On Wednesday, October 16, a day after Muslim folks celebrated Sallah, tragedy struck at Oniwaya Junction, Agege, Lagos, as a high tension cable electrocuted four people in the area.
A woman, identified as Mrs. Oluwajedalo but popularly called Iya Fathia, survived the electrocution but lost his three-year-old son, Ayomide, who ran towards her and embraced her as electric shock overtook her.
The incident was still a hot topic of discussion when Saturday PUNCH visited the area on Tuesday as some people were seen discussing it in the front of house Number 88, Oniwaya Road, where the incident occurred.
There is a transformer located at Oniwaya Junction. House no 88 is just two houses away from the transformer.
A resident of the house, Mr. James Eboh, promptly pointed to a paper on a wall, a poster of the four victims of the electrocution – Ayomide Oluwajedalo (3), Sunday Hisaun (25), Samson Akinrinsoye (25) and Matthew (37).
Eboh shook his head and said the three-year-old victim should not have died.

6 Boko Haram Members Pilgrims Arrested As They Return From Mecca
The suspected Boko Haram suspects were said to be returning to the country from Saudi Arabia where they had gone to on the holy pilgrimage.
“The suspected terrorists were among the first batch of pilgrims that returned to Borno from Saudi and they were arrested by combined team of police, military personnel, immigration and men of the Department of Security services (DSS) at the airport as soon as they arrived, ” a police source in Maiduguri told this agency.
According to the source, the combined team of security men waited for the suspects at the airport and arrested them immediately after their plane landed.

“The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, is the statutory regulator of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Industry.Consequently, the NCAA is charged with oversight responsibilities over all civil aviation operations in the country, including safety, security and strict compliance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices, SARPs, and Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, NCARs.
Towards the effective implementation of its statutory regulatory responsibilities, therefore, it is imperative that the NCAA is fully equipped with highly specialised tools and facilities, including adequate operational vehicles to cover all 22 national airports and over 400 airstrips. In keeping with standard practice, provision is therefore made annually for the replacement of obsolete, inadequate & unreliable monitoring equipment.
In the 2013 budgetary appropriation, provision was made for the procurement of specialised equipment (including operational vehicles) to complement and in some cases replace obsolete ones. Furthermore, the fact that NCAA, as the regulator of the industry, often plays host to dignitaries from ICAO, IATA, US FAA, AFRAA, AFCAC BAGASO, CANSO, ACI and a host of others makes it necessary to have specialised operational vehicles.
WICKEDNESS: HIV Positive Doctor Rapes Patient On Admission
According to report, the female patient was brought to the clinic for emergency medical attention and after been placed on drip, recovered partially.
The medical personnel took advantage of the fact that she was semi-conscious and forcefully had sex with her.
The alleged rapist who is a medical practitioner with Tersoo Clinic in Naka town, Gwer West local government area of Benue state has been arrested by the men of the Benue State police command.

Men, Stay Away From Wives’ Breasts While Chest Feeding
Professor Angela Oyo Ita, the Cross River State Commissioner for Health during the 2013 chest Feeding Week at Akpabuyo local Government Area of the state on Tuesday, stated that men, who share their wives’ breasts while they are chest feeding could inflict wound on the breasts and if the woman is HIV positive, the infection could transfer to the child.
Professor Oyo Ita, represented by the Director Nutrition of the Ministry of Health, Mrs Regina Adie, urged women to practice exclusive chest feeding as chest milk contains 80% of water and 20% of minerals needed for the child’s growth and for keeping the baby healthy and strong.
She said myths that a child that is exclusively fed on chest milk for six months would at some point die out of thirst is not true because beast milk contains enough water to keep the child happy and satisfied.
Governor Oshiomhole Accuses Police Of Fraud
The Governor while speaking at the swearing in of the council Chairman, Mr. Sam Oboh, at the Government House in Benin City yesterday said: “I am embarrassed that the police have become electoral officials.”

CCTV Footage of a man and a woman have been released by British Transport Police in connect with the incident which happened in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, on September 28.
Officers said the pair were in the lift for more than ten minutes during which time she ‘performed an indecent act’ on the man.

‘A man and a woman were seen to enter the lift, which connects the station’s main subway and ticket barriers to platforms four through to seven.

Two Officials Of First Bank Nigeria Plc To Stay In Prison Over N200m Fraud
The accused persons -24-year-old Idris Salawu and Oni Adewale, 29, formerly employees of FBN branch, Adigbe, were arraigned before Magistrate A.O Araba on a three counts of stealing, forgery and fraud.
The prosecutor, Paul Etusi, told the court that the two accused bankers committed the offence on January 25, 2013 at one of the branches of the bank located in the Adigbe area of the state capital.
Etusi said the two suspects fraudulently converted a sum of N200m “with intent permanently to deprive the bank of the ownership of the property.”
The police added, “The accused has committed an offence contrary to section 383 (1)(2)(a) of the Criminal Code and punishable under Section 390(9) Law of Ogun State Nigeria, 2006.
“The accused forged online transfer token document to defraud the sum of N200m property of First Bank, and connived with another person yet to be found, and transferred the money to his account.
“The accused had already withdrawn N22m from the money; they had committed an offence contrary to section 465 and punishable under section 467 law of Ogun State Nigeria 2006.”

Bianca Is Greedy, Ojukwu’s Relatives Tell Court
In a 19-paragraph statement of defence filed before a Lagos High Court, Igbosere, the Ojukwu Transport Limited and seven family members challenged Bianca to prove her claims in the suit which she instituted on behalf of her two underage sons.
The two sons – Afamefuna and Nwachukwu – are the claimants on record in the suit numbered, LD/1539/2012.
The Ojukwu Transport Limited, which is the property in dispute in the suit, is the first defendant. Other defendants, apart from OTL, are Prof. Joseph Ojukwu, Emmanuel Ojukwu, Lotanna Ojukwu, Dr. Patrick Ojukwu, Mr. Edward Ojukwu, Lota Ojukwu and Mrs. Massey Udegbe.
The relatives stated that, contrary to the allegation of the claimants, for over 12 years prior to the death of the deceased, the late Ojukwu had moved to Enugu State and had not lived at any of the property since then.
Their statement of defence read, “The property belongs to the first defendant (Ojukwu Transport Company). The fact is that the claimants’ mother, being greedy, felt she could hold onto the first defendant’s property.
“For over 12 years prior to his death, the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu moved to Enugu and since then had not lived at the first defendant’s property as alleged by the claimants.”

Dino led a group of protesters to the Federal Secretariat, Abuja around noon today, calling for the sack of the Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, over the purchase of two BMW armoured cars.
Unfortunately for Dino and his group, another group in support of the aviation minister emerged from nowhere to counter their group.
The police led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Sunday Olukoya, arrived at the scene and promptly arrested Dino Melaye's group. They were taken away in a Toyota Hilux van, marked NPS 21280 at about one this afternoon.

Thisday Foreign Editor Paul Ohia Found Dead In His Car In Apapa
According to eyewitness reports, the deceased had parked his car for several hours by the side of the road, which aroused the suspicion of passersby, prompting them to move closer to check on him. The eyewitnesses said the deceased had reclined the driver's seat and lay on it as if he was sleeping; until they opened the car doors to find out that he was motionless and lifeless.
The sympathizers who noticed the Thisday sticker on the windshield of the car called Thisday office, informing them of the tragic incident. Thisday staff and the police moved Mr. Ohia to Lagoon Hospital in Apapa where he was confirmed dead.
Although, the hospital said an autopsy would determine the actual cause of death, the medical doctor on duty said the deceased might have died of cardiac arrest. Ohia is survived by a wife and two children. May his soul rest in peace...amen. (Thisday)

Europe Longest Serving Coach Retires After Picking Just One Point In 15-Year
“The regret is that we never won an official game, but I am proud that we never used a naturalized player,” said Mazza, Europe’s longest-serving national team coach.

Mazza took over in 1998 and led the team, which country has a population of 32,000, through the qualifying competition for eight tournaments.
They lost 75 of their 76 matches and finished bottom of their group on each occasion.
Their only positive result in qualifiers came against Latvia, 1-1 away draw in a World Cup qualifier.
It was also their first ever away point.

An average Northerner acquires a cheap transistor radio-set in order to gain political awareness from broadcasting structures such as BBC (Hausa Service), Radio Nigeria, etc. This practice has made the region the most politically-aware region in Nigeria. On the hand, an average Southerner, typically, acquires expensive smartphones equipped with FM radio receiving capability. Instead, they would rather listen to inane songs like “Your Waist”, “Skelewu”,“Ginger Your Swagger”, “NoGede”, etc. 2. Unlike the South, the North understands the importance of numbers in politics. This is why, by all strategic means necessary, the North ensures that they have a larger representation at the National Assembly. 3. Northerners don’t shout, scream, vent and speak “big grammar” to prove that they are politically intelligent on political programmes on TV and radio. Instead, they shout, scream, vent, kick, punch, taekwondo, etc on the floor of the National Assembly to promote a cause that is in their favour. The reverse is the case for the Southerners. 4. Southern graduates/job seekers consider the public sector (government institutions) an unfashionable place for employment. Meanwhile, the Northerners massively recruit and entrench themselves into the public sector and manipulate themselves up the ranks. While all these are going on, their southern brothers and sisters spend years languishing in the labour market for the elusive jobs in blue chip organizations. Yet, Southerners complain of marginalization in the public sector.
Weed Before Love: Woman Stabs Boyfriend After His Dog Ate Her Marijuana Stash
Shadae Scott, 26, who told a judge she does modeling work, posed for a Broward Sheriff’s Office mugshot after she was arrested on Sunday evening and charged with one count of domestic battery.
Her boyfriend, Kevin Wiggins, suffered two small knife cuts in the face and head area and one gash across his hand.
Scott explained to deputies that her boyfriend kept walking into her knife as the two argued, according to an arrest report.
Wiggins told deputies the couple got into a fight after his dog ate her marijuana. Wiggins said she kicked him out of the apartment but he couldn’t find his personal items. The model hid all his stuff, the boyfriend said.
He told deputies Scott then started stabbing at him after he asked where his computer was hidden.
